Barnes & Mullins now Exclusive for Thomastik Infeld (Bowed and Orch Strings)
Barnes & Mullins are now able to reveal that they are now the sole source of Thomastik Infeld strings for the UK. Although B&M – through the Hidersine Company - have had the exclusive distribution rights for a long time, until now Thomastik Infeld products have been sub-distributed through a number of other companies too.
Bruce Perrin, B&M’s joint Managing Director explains the reasons behind this change. “With our expanding catalogue of bowed instruments and accessories, the removal of sub-distribution was a logical step to make. Thomastik Infeld is undoubtedly the brand leader, and as such it deserves clear, focussed attention, and I felt that we could only achieve the appropriate results by taking full control of the brand in our own market. We need to take the brand to a higher level within the UK. “ “It’s important to remind ourselves and others that Thomastik Infeld strings are so much more than ‘just Dominant’. There is constant research and development taking place in Vienna – in Thomastik’s constant quest for the perfect string – and so we need to have the relevant resources in place to promote and support these products as they become available. For example, the recently launched Peter Infeld PI100 set features the first ever platinum-coated e-string which is non-allergenic and 100% whistle free. Now, taking that message to every major UK orchestra and music college is a time-consuming and expensive business, and it serves as a perfect example of just why we had to take full control of the brand.”
Barnes & Mullins stock the full range of Thomastik Infeld strings and accessories, and are happy to accommodate anyone who previously purchased their strings elsewhere.
B&M are also offering same-day despatch and free carriage for any Thomastik Infeld orders placed before 2pm.
